Well I bought this Samyang 8mm Fisheye and have only used it once. Sunday youth football final. It makes a difference from the normal flat looking squad shot anyway. ;)

I guess the only way to find out if it's the right subject is to shot it. :lol: It will be trial and error. Wish me luck. Of course I will load up some results.

Great shots Charlatan. I have bitten the bullet and ordered one. Samyang 8mm. New £200 inc. delivery. Should be here by the end of the week so I can take it to the Drag Racing meet at Santa Pod at the end of May.

It does come with a cap when not in use but I guess it comes down to being extra careful not to damage it when using it. No filter use is available. Noticed that there are no electronics on it at all. so as far as focus, as mentioned already, is manual and metering is manual too so in auto mode...

I have just checked out the Samyang 8mm. Looks good. No auto focus but as said that once the focus is set then it won't need changing. At just over £200 I may consider one. I see they produce a 14mm too. Anyone around the Broxbourne area have one I can borrow tonight for a couple of shots...

Can anyone recommend a fish-eye (8-12mm) lens for Canon at around £150 mark. IS would be a bonus but then maybe asking to much! If that is not possible then next best budget lens.:shrug: Thanks in advance.

Well, I have got a bit of learning to do with the AF functionality on this baby. I have quite a few out of focus shots from the football game I was shooting yesterday. No the usual focus in the wrong place but the whole picture out of focus. Not a single object sharp. Some did have a few blades...

Thanks for the quick reply. I had thought that would be the case. So they determine what they are going to pay per image. I have a web site set up so they can choose what image they want. This is far better than sending them 4-5 shots only to use, say, just one of them. The sports editor...

:love: Picking up my NEW Canon 7D tomorrow. Cant wait. The only down side is that it takes the Compact Flash memory card as opposed to the SD card of which I have thousands (well, lots). Not only that they are 3-4 times more expensive than SD cards too. Why is that? Will keep you updated...
