    Excess digital noise on pics.

I think the reset to factory defaults is going to be the best advice I can give him - thanks

    Excess digital noise on pics.

Thanks, I guess that is somewhere where he could have screwed up the in-camera setting, although most of his pics are soft as sh*t.

    Excess digital noise on pics.

I am posting this on behalf of an acquaintance. All his images are very, very noisy (Camera Canon 80D), I went through all the usual things with him (High ISO, underexposing and 'pushing in processing, heavy cropping...) But one shot I saw on the web was at ISO 200, no post processing (he shoots...

    Walkaround upgrade

Yes a lot of the reviews were against the Canon 24-105 IS MkII. Re the Sigma 24-105 f4 OS it is the Art lens but some web sites do not describe it as so and other just put an 'A' instead of 'Art' - lazy websites as you say. I have only just started looking at the lenses so did not know the...

    Walkaround upgrade

Been doing a lot of research re Canon 24-105 IS MkII v Sigma 24-105 OS Art and just about every review I have found find that the Sigma is the sharper lens (especially at 24- 70mm (ish) although a few say it is too close to call. What I find strange is the enormous price difference between these...

    Walkaround upgrade

When I bought my 70-200/4 there was not an IS version Dave so no such choice - it was still a very nice lens though. I have had the IS version for about 6 years now.

Thanks for all the feedback this far - its looking like a 24-105 is favourite, just need to work out whether to go for a Canon MkII or the Sigma 24-105 Art

    Walkaround upgrade

I am looking to replace my 17-40 L for a walkabout lens with most use being in the wide to mid range of the focal length. I will be using it with a Canon 5D MkIII.. Option A Canon 24-105 MkII OR Sigma 24-105 Art – most reviews I have seen favour the Sigma for sharpness, especially at the wide...

    Sigma 150-600mm contemporary

Has anyone installed the latest firmware update for this lens yet? I am interested if a Canon 1.4x tc MkII will still work OK after the update (it works fine now).

    Sigma 150-600mm contemporary

I have had this lens for a year now and am still surprised at how well it AF's with a 1.4x tc (considering it is actually at f9 at the long end). The AF is both fast and accurate on both my 7D2 and 5D3. You do lose a bit of IQ from the bare lens of course. These were all taken at the full 840mm...
