Not being the most confident person, and being relatively new to photography, I've been left feeling totally disheartened after speaking to an artist at Crufts.
All I wanted was a coloured pencil sketch of one of my dogs and showed him which one (he was insistent that it be one taken in...
Sarah-Jo someone told me to get this book when I first started - it helped me get to grips with things a little better - Understanding Exposure - Bryan Peterson
After a year I'm only at the 2/100 stage and I read and practice A LOT  but stick with it and you'll find it's soooo worth it :)
I've already got the 35mm f1.8 plus a Tamron 17-50 f2.8
The only other lens I'd like is the 105mm f2.8 purely for fun as I'm interested in macro although I mainly do pet portraits
I have funds for a new lens
Hubby is buying me a Nikon AF-S 80-200 2.8 but now I'm undecided between a Nikon 50mm 1.4G and a Nikon 85mm 1.8G - would love the Nikon 85mm 1.4 but funds don't run into those figures!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I'm trying to get some decent shots of my dogs against a black background but although I've Googled away and tried to follow said found instructions the best I'm getting is a grey background.
Any help/advice much appreciated as my little pack are getting fed up with me
I've currently got a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 and a Tamron 17-50mm SP Di II f/2.8 lens
I was wondering if it was really worth investing in a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 as I seem to take most pics on my Tamron around the f/4 mark.
I really want either the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D or the 70-200mm f/2.8 (more...
I'm going to Blackpool on Thursday overnight and I'm hoping the weather conditions will be good enough for me to have a go at the illuminations and/or tower - I'm also going to the zoo in the daytime :D
Has anyone got any good advice on attempting to get a decent pic?
I've got a tripod and...
Hi Jo
Pleased you could make it :)
Joanne and I are budding photographers together and were friends before we started our road to learning photography
I've had my 'playtime' with my camera taking 'snaps' although I've never yet shot in Auto, despite some people saying to do so in order to learn, I preferred to go in at the deep end and learn the so-called 'hard' way
Now I want to get serious, as much as an amateur can get serious :)...
I'm not talking about Aperture, S/S, ISO etc but your basic camera settings accessed via the menus.
There seems to be a confusing amount of variations - to me as a newbie anyway - and I've read and re-read the manual many times and actually have it as a pdf on my desktop to refer to at all...
Being a relative newbie to photography in all aspects I went for the Jessops 360AFD which was enough for me - until a friend offered me his Nikon Speedlight SB-900 for £100 :) Couldn't turn that down now could I!
BUT the Jessops flash does it's job and it's great for learning the ropes on and...
Lovely set of shots Tom!
I'm going to have a look around at the second hand market - no way I can go for new at the moment unfortunately
Nikon & Sigma both have good reviews but is it worth looking at the older Nikon 70-200 f2.8 D???
