Cheers for all your help fellas. Eric Mc - that is just how slow my Elements is. Think a memory upgrade should do the trick. Many thanks everyone :)

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

hummmm think Im caught between the two options of upgrading PC, or biting bullet and flogging this one and buying another. Am sure this has only a 128 graphics card as well, which doesnt sound too great. So need more RAM, better graphics card, ideally faster processor. Might be time to...

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

Processor is AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ PC is 2.5 - 3yrs old You reckon upgrading the RAM will make all the difference. Or reckon pC is just a bit outdated now?

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

yeah I have noticed that most decent new PCs seem to be coming with minimum 2gb ram. With that upgraded memory, you reckon photoshop elements should be very much quicker then ?

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

Hard drive is plenty big enough. Its a 160gb hard drive with still about 100gb unused. So probably need more memory then. Its currently 512. What would you suggest I really need - 1gb or maybe 2gb ?

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

Hi folks Quick query that I thought was beter suited here rather than in the 'processing forum' I have just bought Photoshop Elements 5.0, installed it etc and had a bit of a play around (pre-instructions obviously) I have found though that its seems a very very slow programme to use...

Am I being stupid - 'locking focus'

All you kind gentlemen (and ladies if applicable) - you have restored my faith and prevented me from stamping on my new camera  It was asking for it I tell ya. I was such a twonk, I was doing test shots on things at the same focal length, ie side by side :bonk: I obviously made...

Am I being stupid - 'locking focus'

soooooooo is it a distance thing then. Im im slowly understanding this, then how about this example. If my girlfriend is stood in front of a distant mountain and I centre her, then reposition so she is to the side of final shot with lots of mountain in view, it will still focus on her due to...

Am I being stupid - 'locking focus'

hummmmm So if im taking a pic, for example a solitary duck on water, and centre the duck, half press shutter, then reposition camera slightly to have duck on a 'third', then fully press shutter - that wont work. I will still end up with now empty water as my main focul point ?

Am I being stupid - 'locking focus'

Hope this isnt a dumb question, but here goes........... I have a Canon Powershot G9. Not had it long and still getting to grips with the manual settings etc. But one thing that is driving me mad is locking in focus by half depressing the shutter. Im sure this worked when I first got it...

    Are we getting fleeced ?

As someone who has only used P&S cameras - sometimes something comes along that does make a difference. A good example is Image Stabilisation.

    Urban Exploring

Links working again. For some reason I find this really interesting. Not just for the photo opportunities, but to explore a little piece of history. Its a real shame to see say 1930s cinemas or swimming pools fall into such disrepair and closed down. Instead replaced by square, dull factory...

    Urban Exploring

I'd love to go along. I just need a decent camera, a bit more confidence, a head for hights (as some go scaling all sorts) and a damn fine excuse to the Old Bill when I get collared lol. In all serious though, what an exciting way to get wicked shots.
