Well a small update for anyone interested. MPB Sorted out an exchange, sent out a different lens (Recorded Serials as recommended) and this one has a fair amount of dust between the elements , can clearly be seen if held up to a light source. Disappointed with the whole experience of using MPB...

I'm in the market for a new lens and having a tough time deciding between two , after deciding not to buy the monster 150-600 that i was looking at (Thanks to all who contributed to that thread, but after trying one out, it was way too heavy) I don't see myself upgrading to mirrorless any time...

I've still go what must be ancient now , a 17-85 Canon Kit Lens , Still has it's uses , however after a long time in the kit-bag , i've gotten it back out and found that the focus ring , has gone sticky/tacky where the rubber has aged. Does anyone know how to replace these? It feels like it...

Nope didn't fire. With the flash attached in manual mode, i opened the Menu, went into the settings and "Flash Control" was highlighted, on opening the folder, it was shown as "disable". No idea why but sorted now. Never had that issue on any other canon but live and learn! Thanks

Help needed please, I have a Canon 80D connected to a 430Ex II through the hotshoe, it fires on Ettl in full auto mode set on the camera, but I cannot get it to fire at all in manual mode no matter what settings I choose in camera or on the flash. Is there a setting in camera for manual mode...

Thanks, I think that kinda settles it then. Why spend more on a heavier lens for the sake of one stop. How much is the IS going for? Best I've seen is over £800

I was looking at the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 as it has IS and is significantly cheaper than the Canon, but have seen the Canon f4l is significantly cheaper still and reportedly cheaper. I'd be using it for portraits, walkabout / Street shots, and for Zoo's & the odd bit of wildlife... At £450...
