Can you optimise the background image, it's over 1mb and took an eternity to load on my work pc. You should be able to get it down to about 100k without losing much.

Can't you download the live wordpress database from your server, important that into your offline wordpress install, then play around with that until your happy. Then replace the database and theme on the server? I don't really understand the benefit of working on it locally though.
