Some examples of flash pictures comparing built in to external gun

The photos clearly show the difference between on camera flash and a separate flash gun. They do appear to be underexposed, but then an explanation for that should be given. Being a Canon user I could explain the reason easily, but I was under the impression that Nikon's system didn't suffer...

    Flash Diffusers

Not seen that one before, but really it depends on what you are using flash for and where. The cheapest cost effective option is the ABBC (a better bounce card), Fab Foam from Hobbycraft or Funky Foam from Range stores (range being cheaper). The Fong type are ok in smaller rooms or close up...

Which Canon 'L' Lens? - Sport (Horse Racing) Event

Hmmm, Official photographer, what about a back-up camera? Just a thought, but if your are getting paid then like weddings you should really have some form of backup. This would allow you to have a zoom on one camera and your wide angle on the other.

    Backup... On the Move!

There's lots of other options, just google what you want, the Vosonic VP8360 though discontinued is still available at £150. It will download from CF and Sd cards and with the latest update it reads the .raws of the 450D, dont know about the 5D files but because of the 5D's age I think it...

It can combine adjacent pixels at higher iso to become a 6Mp camera producing less noise.

using Speedlites at night w/ Pocketwizards & slave.... will they fire?

If its not connected to a pocketwizard it will just sit there looking pretty and do nothing. Use the 580 as master on the hotshoe...

Thinking about an all-rounder flash unit

If you are serious about flash and the Canon ettl11 system then the Canon EX580 is really the way to go, especially if you are thinking of extending the system in future with more than one flash gun. It pivets, just about any direction, can be used in manual, can control other Canon...

PT-04 modifications, which is thw antenna pin?

Got one of these last week with two receivers, tried rechargeable AAA in the receivers and one worked about 1ft from the transmitter and the other had to be almost touching. Then replaced the rechargeables with normal AAA batteries, one set Duracell the others another make, but both sets were...

Richardthesanehas it correct, you need to read the Canon flash bible here The EX550, 580 Mk1&11 can be set in manual to avoid the preflash and thus trigger your strobes. Phil
