Some sad news regarding Sue Charlton (long time member)

I haven't posted anything up here for ages, but I remember Matt and Sue and that they were very active members of the forum. That's really tragic news, RIP Sue, my thoughts and sympathies to Matt and family. Rich

    Audi A4 Cam belt

I think thats a fair price if its from the Audi dealer, but you could consider a reputable independent too. Got mine done as part of the deal when I bought the car from them (2nd hand). I think the cost of the water pump is quite small so its best to get it done at the same time to avoid the...

    MotoGP 2012

Hoping Rossi can be competitive this year, but really cant see anyone for the title except Stoner, Lorenzo or Pedrosa. Unfortunately I don't think Bradley Smith will win the Moto2 - its got to be Marquez really. Redding looked good in early practice test sessions but not the last test...

    sigma 50-500

I don't own the lens, but recently hired one for a few days. I got some good shots, but overall I wasn't that impressed. O/S certainly came in useful when shooting under less than great light conditions. It maybe due to my lack of experience with the lens, but, put it this way, it didn't...

    Waterproof case for my GF1?

LOL...the sharks were fine, they loved having their photo taken really ! ( I didn't have the camera lens pushed far enough into the cases' lens part in this shot, so you can just see the case in the bottom corners of the shot) Rich :)

    Waterproof case for my GF1?

I bought another version of this (the Aquapac Small Camera Case Hard Lens 428) for my daughters smaller Samsung compact camera - used it for cage diving with great white sharks in South Africa. It worked a treat, didn't let any water in and photos came out clearly. HTH

Tom, My friend has just had a look and its apparently still got some TVs in etc, and didn't have any 'closed down' signs, but he reckons the last 2 times he's been, its been closed. Sorry can't be more help. Rich

    Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR11 + 2 x TC or Sigma 50-500 OS

Thanks to all for your feedback. I think I'm gonna go for the Sigma 50-500 OS because of the extra flexibility it has (range from 50mm to 500mm). We've not been on safari before so don't know what to expect. The Sigma might not have the same quality at 200mm as the Nikon but I guess...

    Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR11 + 2 x TC or Sigma 50-500 OS

Thanks to you both for your replies...much appreciated. :) Scott - have you tried a 1.7 or 2x teleconverter on the nikkor 70-200 and if so, how does it the image quality compare at the top end in comparison with the sigma at the same focal length? Very nice photos btw  Thanks...

    Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR11 + 2 x TC or Sigma 50-500 OS

Hi, We're going on holiday in South Africa and part of that will be a few days on Safari. Which lens do you reckon would be best choice between 70-200 2.8 VR (+ 2 x TC) vs Sigma 50-500 OS. We're going to hire one. Camera is a Nikon D3000 I've thought about the bigger lenses such as Nikon...
