What New Gear Have You Purchased This Week?

Oh dear- it is very fussy in regards to CF cards! That must be like having a cake you can't eat!

    Donna nook

The latest update is (from http://www.lincstrust.org.uk/index.php): "The tidal surge has affected the entire east coast including our reserves at Donna Nook, Gibraltar Point and Far Ings. At Donna Nook the seals are now dispersed throughout the sand dunes and should not be approached. Please...

    Nikon 300mm f4

This definitely isn't normal. I've never had any squeal from mine.

    Birding and wildlife lens

I'd also consider a Nikon 300 F/4 and 1.4 teleconverter. I always favour that over my Sigma 150-500.

    on-line shops...?

Yardbent- I've purchased from Park Cameras. I did it in the shop, not online but they appear to be a reputable outfit. I'm guessing as you live near Glasgow, the shop is too far away for you (its in Burgess Hill near Brighton). For some things they are amongst the cheapest. I also believe none...

The right lens for plant photography

If you are looking for a Macro lens, you can't go wrong with the Nikon 105 F/2.8 VR. That's what I use on my D40x. Trouble is it is quite expensive (circa £600). Apparently Sigma's equivalent is very good and about 1/2 the price. If you have a 50mm Prime lens, then extension tubes are also an...

    Grays of Westminster

If you are in London they are easy to get to from Victoria station. The problem with their second hand stock is it is often more expensive than what you can get elsewhere brand new!

Thanks Paul, I checked the official Website, where I found this: So hopefully they will work.

Confused- which Kenko extension tubes for Nikon?

I've got a D40x (only autofocuses with AF-S lenses) and have been contemplating getting some extension tubes. I decided Kenko's 36, 20 and 12mm set would be ideal, and have read in several places that they work with Nikon's AF-S lenses (they allow auto focus). However, virtually everywhere I...

50mm f1.4 for Nikon: Nikon or Sigma?

I have the Nikon 50 F/1.8 and the 35 F/1.8 on a D40x. I use the 35 way more than the 50, so I'd seriously consider this lens too.
