Binocular mounting with 1/4 inch thread

Hi. I have a vintage pair of "Miranda" binoculars. In order to mount these on a tripod (the modern way), I will need to drill and tap the appropriate part of the binocular with a "1/4 inch screw thread". What would be the details for the tap I'd be using so that I can fit the modern binocular...

Wanting to edit Time Stamp on a small batch of photos

Hi. It's not proving that easy to find a free program that will allow me to correct the time stamps on a batch of photos taken over two days. I have a photo with a clock face on it, and presuming the clock is correct, the time stamps are all out by 33 minutes. I need to alter all the time...

USB camera software: Closes after several seconds

Hi. I have a document camera. It was bought from VEVOR The name of the software file is "Document Camera.exe". I have installed the software. When I start it, I do get an app - generated window, but I also get a Windows - generated blue circle. After several seconds the app closes itself, or...

Beginner Is this the forum to talk vintage (film) cine cameras?

Actually, just to emphasize, at this time it's cine film projection that's grabbing my particular interest. That book, Basic Motion Picture Technology, does look at technology from the cine camera angle. I'm not sure what books if any deal with cine film projection technology. Of course, a...

Beginner Is this the forum to talk vintage (film) cine cameras?

I'm very much a technical tinkerer. It's the mechanical nature of the vintage cine film cameras and projectors that appeal. I'll probably take a shot at buying some projector and "mess" with it. But also, there is also a kind of magic associated with projecting from a mechanical device.

Beginner Is this the forum to talk vintage (film) cine cameras?

Just one question before I get the book. Does the film actually come to a stop when a frame is in a position to be projected onto a screen? I'm assuming that the frame to be projected is stationary when the shutter allows light to pass. I think folks are going to say "YouTube is your friend". :)...

Beginner Is this the forum to talk vintage (film) cine cameras?

I fancy tinkering with the old technolgy by buying vintage cine cameras / cine projectors (Ebay probably). Could be therapeutic. Just gone and bought a book on Basic Motion Picture Technology. Had it years ago when I was wondering whether to go into a career in film making. Never did go down...

Beginner Binocular mount for my re-purposed tripod

OK, there probably is not a part to buy to affix to the top of the tripod. Best thing probably is to saw off the projecting piece, round off that top piece, and drill and tap that top piece then screw in a stud that I can screw a base plate to, and my binocular adapter.

Beginner Binocular mount for my re-purposed tripod

Hi. I have a modified music stand, and I wish to mount my binoculars onto it. I have bought a tripod adapter for the binoculars, but I need to mount that onto my tripod. Basically I need to have a flat surface for my adapter to screw onto. I attach a picture of the tripod I got. Is there...

    Argus 300 Slide Mechanism

Hi. I think I know how my newly acquired Argus 300 slide projector slide mechanism works. But, as it happens I've been unlucky in that mine is faulty. I've figured that you push a slide into a sort of holder as shown in the picture. And when you pull the slide mechanism "out" it places the...

Bought FujiFilm FinePix HS20EXR: Did I do OK?

I need a FujiFilm case for S/SL/SH series. £29.47 best price I've seen at Amazon (Photomania). But that supplier has only an 80% rating (Aah, but on only 5 sales, so may be OK). P.S. Thought I had found the same bag at Currys for £19.99, but I don't think so now closely examining the two...

Bought FujiFilm FinePix HS20EXR: Did I do OK?

Hi. I've just bought a FinePix HS20EXR for £120 S/H. Boxed and as in new condition. I get frustrated when buying cameras because it seems so involved choosing. So, yesterday after a short search, I just picked a camera that seemed to have decent reviews and made an offer, which was accepted...

Reached the point of not needing a flash?

When I was photographing (in my home) some items I was going to sell on Ebay, I found that I had to buy a 500W floodlight. How wonderful it would be if the ability to take a picture in low light was something of a standard feature. My question is more-or-less asking, is this ability of not...

Reached the point of not needing a flash?

Hi. I'm a beginner, I know little about cameras. I'm trying to figure out what to buy in a bridge, system, or DSLR. But, have we reached a point in the technology where the average amateur photographer is well advised to, or can quite sensibly aim to buy a camera that offers no flash? I'm not...
