Should shops be allowed to open on Boxing Day?

Agreed. Just a bit of nonsense for people to get worked up over.

Beginner Anyone claimed on home insurance for camera equipment what happened to your premium next year?

Had a bit of a nightmare time: Claimed for a D610 and 70-300vr, then my wife broke her iPhone 6S about a day after getting it. Our premium went up about £80+added £100 voluntary excess. Not too bad considering going the cost.

    Reasonable priced monitor calibration

I use the Spyder5 Elite. It's good, and they do lower priced versions too. If you're thinking of buying a Dell Ultrasharp with built in calibration in the future, then maybe think about the x rite device, as that's the only one that'll work with it.

    Dell UltraSharp UP2516D

Set it up yesterday evening, so I haven't been able to use it for photo editing yet. But here are some first impressions. I already had a Spyder5 calibration tool, so I can't use the built in calibration (which requires x-rite). It's calibrated nicely with my portrait monitor, which is an...

    New PC - Storage Setup

Fair enough. I'm sure it'll be alright for the extremely limited gaming I'll do!

    New PC - Storage Setup

OK. Seems like a consensus on the scratch disk. I'll use it for something else or send it back (not used it yet). I used to game a fair bit, but haven't for some time. Going to try Fallout 4. Not a huge fan of shooters but 1 and 2 were brilliant games, so still enjoy the series. Any...

    New PC - Storage Setup

I have a fair few external hdds, but can be a faff backing up manually, and remembering where different things are. Maybe NAS at some point.

    New PC - Storage Setup

Cheers for the advice. I'm all for saving a few quid. I'd read somewhere that ps/lightroom put history states into scratch regardless of RAM. How much (if anything) do you reckon I should keep aside for scratch on the lr cat disk?

    New PC - Storage Setup

Good shout. I have a Samsung portable SSD. Been using it to house my LR catalogue for use between old PC and Laptop for a while. Been a decent way to get around the catalogue restriction in LR.

    New PC - Storage Setup

Hi, I've just bought a new PC. Mainly lightroom and photoshop, but possibly some gaming. Spec is: i7 6700k 32gb DDR4 Nvidia 1080 8gb (overkill I know, but PC was a bargain from Dell Outlet). 1tb 7200 HDD 256gb M.2 SSD (Toshiba NVMe) 1tb SATA SSD (Crucial MX300 - added by me) 256gb SATA...

    Midlands Hello

Hello everyone. My name's Rich, and I live in Nottingham (although I work over in Derby, and spend more time taking photos in Derbyshire than Notts). I've been taking photos for a few years, but don't know many other photographers, so it'll be good to chat with like-minded people.
