450D: Upgrade to 60D, or upgrade lens?

An old, old thread I know....but just incase someone comes here via a search on Google, I thought I'd I'd add my 2 penneth worth!! I've had a 450D for about 3yrs and though it produces great pics, I've always yearned for that 'little bit extra', after renting an L lens a while ago for a...

    Resize in Flickr

I thought the OP meant he wanted to resize the uploaded pic rather than just getting various sized pics of the original....you CAN do an online resize of your pic in photobucket....don't think you can on flickr by the looks of things!

    Resize in Flickr

Just had a look at my flickr...cant see how.... or rather IF you can do it once it's been uploaded there either (as you can do with photobucket :( )

    24-105mm f/4 L USM...what a beastie!

To answer the points raised... The focus point was the large 'knot' area of the fallen tree stump for all shots....and yes, centre point focusing was used on all shots - that's all I ever use tbh.... True about it being at the extreme end of it's range and the others' sweet spot, but maybe...

    24-105mm f/4 L USM...what a beastie!

Test 3 This is the one that surprised me.... I know the 55-250mm IS has got a good reputation as a very good quality 'budget' lens....but I think it's much better at 100mm than the L lens here.... 55-250mm IS@f5 100mm focal length 24-105mm@f5 97mm focal length 55-250mm IS@f5...

    24-105mm f/4 L USM...what a beastie!

Well I've finally got around to updating this post.... I've gotta say that yes - the 24-105 was a cracking lens and produced great pics....but I've also gotta say that though they were good - I don't think that I personally will be obsessed with going all out to get an 'L'-only collection of...

Poll: Which monitor format do you use?

Yes ppp - you're right of course. I use faststone to crop my images and that gives me a crop option to maintain whatever ratio you want just by dragging the 'handles' of the crop box so you can get the best crop for whatever ratio screen you want....very handy!

Poll: Which monitor format do you use?

Couldn't suss out to post this topic as an actuall poll.....can anyone explain how it's done? There usually a button or tick box somewhere to 'post as a poll' but I couldn't find one

Poll: Which monitor format do you use?

Thanks for the replies  I've only had a dslr since August and have since started my flickr account. When I'm resizing to upload, I'm never sure whether to resize/crop to 5:4 or 16:10 ratio, so that the viewer can see them full screen - purely so they look better that's all...

Poll: Which monitor format do you use?

Just wondering as to which format would be best to upload images in.... The one I'm using atm...and also my most often used...is a flat screen 'square type' (5:4 ratio) as I've had it quite a while and has served me well. However, I also use our laptop and that is the usual widescreen and...

    Lewis!

WTF is wrong with the British mentality....I really sometimes wonder  Can there be ANY other country in the world, that doesn't get behind one of their own, who is a leader in their particular sport? This guy is NOT arrogant...confident yes, but there is a big difference between being...

    24-105mm f/4 L USM...what a beastie!

Will do. Anyone care to comment further on my query at the end of the OP.....? As most of my shooting so far has been of static things, I've always had my 450D on 'single shot' focusing. Is it a good idea to leave it on 'servo' to have more chance of catching those impromptu moments that you...

    24-105mm f/4 L USM...what a beastie!

Just taken delivery of the above for a week from Stewart at lensesforhire... Now, when I've read reviews in the past of the 'L' lenses having fantastic build quality, I've thought to myself... 'That's not such a big deal...it's the results that's more important' .....and it is of course...
