    Beginner Shooting a Charity Event

Be aware that an increase in ISO will increase the effective range of the flash. Flash covers by distance, not by area, so something closer will be brighter if your focal point is further back. For a more detailed understanding, have a look at the inverse square law. As I say, enjoy the event.

RAW, Tv at 1/200sec, f4, AutoISO, Bounce flash in ETTL. Enjoy and mix.

    Passports

I work in a Photoshop that will do a digital passport coded image for you. It produces a card copy and a code which (after following a link) is a simple process. The image can be also downloaded onto your computer for any further use (bus pass, driving docs, agency pass etc). This costs just...

Micro 4 3rds sell it to me

For me, it's simple ergonomics. I have large hands and I find them too small, fiddly buttons and they just don't sit right for me. They are very capable though; at this time the DSLR is very much active.

    Rechargeable vacuum cleaners - recommendations?

Another +1 vote for the corded shark. Manoeuvres well, powerful and does the job. Even I don't mind using it.

    Camera clubs and competitions

I enjoy our local Camera Club; agreed the average age is 55+, but that means we have an extended Tea and toilet break and the soft biscuits and cake are a bonus... I've leaned much, listening to experiences, show and tell (always openly displaying 'personal' techniques). There is the odd...

    Beginner Adding a border

I add a simple 3px black border to my image, to define the edges of the view and keep the image constrained. I like it. End of.

How often do you check your autofocus?

I've used a 5D2, 5D3 and now a 5D4 and never had any issues in terms of focus from the equipment. If I buy a new lens, I set the camera and lens combo on a tripod, IS off and take a test set of shots at various focal length and subject distance. Once confident that the combination works, I know...

    Photoshop question

Thanks to all for your inputs. I'm certainly edging towards the PS/LR subscription; the simple transition in opening direct in ACR and all the latest updates seems to be a winner. Good point regarding the DNG path.

    Photoshop question

Thank you Jonathan. I think your opening line answers my needs. I just seek the simplicity of being able to see directly on windows 10 and opening direct in ACR in PS, then jpeg in the same software, for both CR2 and CR3.

    Photoshop question

I'm currently using a PC, running Windows 10 and have Photoshop Elements 12 installed. Recent purchases are a Canon 5Div and a Canon 90D. I am having to identify the images in the Canon DPP raw converter, then saving to jpeg before the Elements will work on them. I'm aware that the later...

1/3rd Of The Way In, Infinity or Stacking?

The first three sentences are the delights and pitfalls of our wonderful hobby. The final sentence suggests a good pub was nearby? :)
