I agree its a great camera, I've been more than pleased with mine. I didnt own a xxd Canon before so cant compare it to the 50D, I know 50D owners were unhappy when the spec was announced that it didnt follow in the footsteps of the xxd range with some features like the magnesium alloy chassis...

+1 for the nifty fifty, I was suprised just how much I could do with it, landscape, portrait, low light, it stayed on my camera for a while now

For the quality required for utube the Samsung would be ok and easy to use. The 600d is able to produce much, much better video but this depends on what lens you attach to it, have you already got canon or canon compatable lenses? if so the canon will be great. Sound is surprissingly good...
