I'd go for it - I bought a 1d as a curiosity off ebay and am really impressed with the results....so much so , that the other DSLR cameras (Olympus/Kodak/1D mk2/1DS/10D/Sony) are now relegated to "special tasks" - the 1D is a great, great walkaround when coupled with a 24-105L IS - pin sharp...
