Picked up an RX100 mk1 for my parents. Having read through the thread here I was half expecting to have to buy a separate charger and thought that the RX100 could only be charged by USB with a computer. Obviously realised now that people are buying external battery chargers for extra...
I guess that sub £200 price is for used? Anyway, I just picked up a RX100 mk1 new for £271 with £30 cashback so £241 delivered. It's for my parents but I did get it out just to check it worked so can't really comment on it but from what I've read it should be good for what they need.
Thank you for the replies and yes, reasonably set on the RX100 I but just wondering about other brands as well.
I'll check out the Canon S120.
Current camera I think is about the most basic Canon compact you can get, c£60 and 1-2 years old.
Hi
My parents are off to New Zealand in the new year and currently have a very cheap basic compact camera. I'm thinking of getting them something better.
At the moment I can see the Sony RX100 I is still available new for £241 with cashback. My brothers might chip in and the budget could...
Yes, a bit of online research suggests that the 1.4 can be a bit slower than the 50 1.8G. Whilst tempting to swap to the 1.8G I suspect the difference is small and still a bit behind the 24-70.
Hi
Keen amateur here enjoying my D610 but just thought I'd check on one thing. I've got 2 lens, Nikon 24-70 2.8G and Nikon 50 1.4G. All my kit was purchased on here 2nd hand and all seems fine. With the 50 I thought this might be handy for days when I didn't fancy lugging the zoom around...
That deal on Panamoz is a steal! I recently purchased a D610 second hand off here that was also an import but only a couple months old for around the same.
Now that I've had the camera for a few months I can confirm that I am loving it. I'm a 'learning amateur' at best but new kit always...
I've got a D90 and have recently owned and sold a Fuji X-E1 and now (hopefully!) settled on a D610. Anway, ISO wise with the D90 I always left it on ISO 200 and only moved up from their out of desparation. I wouldn't go beyond 800.
Otherwise it's a brilliant camera. In good light and the...
Probably my fault as the original box was put in an old kettle box with padding and then another cardboard box on the outside (a bit overkill!) but probably took me just over the 2kg mark. I should have checked really - I normally do as you say and use kitchen scales.
Took a Fuji X-E1 which I've sold to the PO yesterday. They were asking about batteries and I initially said that it did have a battery and it was separate. My story changed to it being a built in battery etc and the lady accepted it. I can't now remember whether I took the battery and put it...
Hi
A query on SD cards. I currently have a 16GB Sandisk Extreme card (same as this one):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandisk-UHS-1-Extreme-Definition-Memory/dp/B007LKOO22/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1406641684&sr=1-4&keywords=16+gb+sandisk+extreme
So I thought I would get a 32GB card to...
Thanks ST4 - yes that may be the way to go. I've got the 24-70 already and just curious to know whether the 11-16 Tokina will do more for me on the D610 (in DX or FX mode) than the D90 (which I've still got). In the future I may sell the D90 and Tokina and pick up an FX wide angle, once funds...
Hi
Just wondering whether anyone has tried a Tokina 11-17mm lens on their D6x0? I think I read on the 'net somewhere that even though it's a DX lens it would be ok at the long end.
Reason I ask is that I have this lens with my D90 and only for occassional use but wondered if I could sell...
