I like quiet mode too. I think it is quieter partly because the shutter slows down. I seem to recall having some high-speed flash synchronisation issues when quiet mode, but I may be mistaken. Quentin

Yes, I found quite a few tips there. I hadn't noticed, for example, that you can configure the 'Set' button in the middle of the jogwheel to call up the menu. Very handy for those of us whose left hand is occupied holding the lens and so can't easily reach the MENU button...

Aha! I found it! The little second button on the remote shooting screen corresponds to the AF-ON physical button. If you've used the custom function menu to redefine that one, it's redefined in the software interface too! I had, a long time ago, set mine to do AEL/FEL, the same as the * key...
