He might be embarrassed. He may have paid a fortune on the latest DSLR with all the bells a whistles, upgraded from a compact. He may not know how to switch it on :lol:

I have one I find it sharp upto 380mm. There is no other lens at this price point that gives some reasonable quality.

Glen trool, Dumfries and Galloway. The Galloway forest is one of the remotest places left in Britain and it's not to far from you. Full of wildlife from Otters, Deer, goats, kites ect.

Why not try the Industar-61 L/Z 50mm f2.8 apparently this has macro ability better than 1:2. Usually available for £25+ on ebay. Reading various revues it has a good reputation minimum focus 30cm. Just bought one myself. I think it has a radioactive element as well.

I don't like flash websites in general. Why? well off the above 2 websites recommended above one doesn't work, this is not unusual. Overall I find that they are slow and often overcomplicated.

Be aware buying cameras in the Canary Isle's is fraught with danger. Just do a google and you'll find lots of examples. I was nearly caught out when buying a camera for my wife. The con involved paying for the item, then the sales man demonstrating the camera (to ensure you know how it works)...

Sony has a wealth of good lenses especially the recent low cost SAM range. Sony SLR/SLT also have the use of all Minolta AF lenses since 1985 especially the sought after beercan lenses and don't forget all with image stabilisation.:)
