no idea Pete, I get once this Err99 just with a old 75-300mm on my 20D, and it was a Focusing problem, if the lens was un MF there was no problem, if I turn on the AF, Err99. Have you try cleaning the contacts of the camera to the lens?

I been to Toronto two times in the past years, and it's an amazing place to visit and walk (if the weather allows to), lots of pictures, but it's a great city. Niagara it worth only one day trip. Plan to be there all day, it worth see it by day and night.

hey, may be this is a stupid question, but... have to ask. how you make the shot? How you push the shutter when you want the picture taken? There is a control remote? Timer? Cable?
