I've never used the 50mm 1.4 but my 50mm 1.8 has been in retirement since i got my 17-55 well over a year ago

This lens any good on a 50D?

No info on the lens as im a canon user but when i had a reef tank years ago a macro was only any good for taking pics of corals etc(relatively still creatures). Especially if you have adequate flow in the tank most fish have to make an effort to get anywhere and I found it easier using my 18-55...

I got the lowepro 300 aw mentioned above for about £73 delivered from WHE. Got a 50d with 17-55 lens attached, 100mm macro, nifty fifty, speedlite and still plenty of space for more when the lens prices come back to reality. sounds about right for you ;)

Try out the efs 17-55 2.8 IS USM. Has only been off my 50D a handful of times to let me use my 100mm 2.8 macro ;)

I use a rocket blower to get rid of most of the dust/little hairs and use the brush side of my lens pen to sweep any stubborn stuff off. If there's any greasy marks I just use the carbon side of the lens pen after the above. that way nothing can get grinded onto the front element. I tried...

That's why I was hoping canon would do it under warranty CT. I thought maybe someone on here would know from experience if they would do it and how best to organise it as they haven't got back to me for what will b 2 weeks on Monday

just checked CT the hair is sharpish, sits a few mm above the top centre focus dot

definitely not on focussing screen CT, I bought a replacement screen incase i scratched the original one when taking it out to check. I've had the rocket blower in there with mirror locked up and where you can see the little focussing dots is where you can see the hair. It wouldn't shift at...
