I would check that NAT and UPnP are turned on on both your works router and your home one. Sorry I have no experience with the Sky Router!

When I enable the Back to My Mac on my MacBook Pro I can see my home network from outside. What Modem/Router are you using? Edit: Clarity!

Go to System Preferences -> iCloud and enable Back to My Mac (you may have to enable sharing on your MacBook too).

For my Birthday I am being taken on a walk with some Harris Hawks this weekend. The handlers are going to fly the hawks and hopefully I will get to handle one. I have a 5D mkII and a 450D that my daughter will be using. I have a 50 f1.8, a Sigma 15-30, an ancient 70 - 210 f4 and a 70 - 300 IS...

You can see this effect by opening an application quitting it and then launching it again. The second launch will take a fraction of the time of the first launch because it still has the application in RAM.

But the point is you take one picture every minute, hour or whatever, you do not need to take 24 fps. For example for a 24 hour time lapse movie of a day, if you took 1 picture per minute 60*24 = 1488 pictures. You then join them into a movie and you would get a time-lapse movie that plays...

I used 40DShutterCount on my Mac, it worked for my 5D mark II.

You could try the SD card adapter from Apple. http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD822ZM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader?fnode=3a The built in Photos App will import the pictures direct from the SD card. I have the equivalent for my iPad 3 and it works like a charm.
