    Fast Nikon Sport lens

I have an earlier version and for an occasional use lens it's awesome bang for buck. (Are you talking 120-300?)

Low / zero alcohol beers & lager

Funnily enough, I quite like the Erdinger alc-free stuff - it's a totally different drink to Erdinger (and, in fact, any beer at all), but I don't find it objectionable. I'd put it into the same category as soda & lime, say - a drink if you can't have a beer, but let's not pretend it is...

    Fast Nikon Sport lens

Just to throw something else into the mix... a second hand Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 D. It's about 2, maybe 3 generations "old" and doesn't have any fancy VR equivalent. However, I picked mine up for less than £600 and it's pretty sharp for a zoom, even at f/2.8 (especially at the centre). It...

    Landscape photography: doing it differently.

Along the lines of detail shots, how about using other times of the day (e.g. Midday) to go for some striking shadow & light shots, or something else which isn't obviously "landscape"?

    Fixed for you ;)

    Thinking of going full frame...

One thing you haven't mentioned is why you want to go full frame. If the answer (honestly) is, "because I want a sexier bit of kit that looks more pro and feels robust" then fine. No problems. At least you're being honest. Otherwise, it's nigh on impossible to recommend something as we don't...

Lenses? I'm going to hazard a guess that 95% will be macro :) Will endeavour to snap and post!

    Nikon D750 & D780

In the process of making a waterproof cover for my D750 for use in very wet weather. Anybody else DIYed something like that? I've decided it also needs to be rock-proof (in terms of scrapes and bangs) which doesn't make the waterproofing quite as straightforward!

What drove or inspired you to take up photography?

Wanted pictures of my kids. This then evolved into an interest in the science/physics of it all. Then a realisation it can feature alongside other hobbies and interests - walking/climbing, cooking, etc. Then I discovered lighting, which is a slippery slope to expense and moving house just to...

Camera + long lens strap recommendations

Good point - I forgot to mention that fairly vital piece of physics :) The image posted was just with a 105 macro. And a bit of clutter on the desk!

Camera + long lens strap recommendations

Well, I've had a D750 + battery pack hanging off a BR strap with a 120-300 f/2.8 lens attached. Dunno what it weighs but if it's less than 5kg I'll be suprised. And the BR attachment has never missed a beat. However, like you I'm slightly paranoid so go for a belt & braces approach. I have...

It's actually one of the better shots I took... the selfie (10s timer job) I did of myself was dire :( Link here - don't want to add pics to your TP52 thread! https://flic.kr/p/S1J4uz
