How quickly does it power up and set up shots? How durable is the twisting LCD?

I tried these and found the G12 / LX5 / EX1/ XZ1 a bit too big and clunky. So S95 is only option from cameras mentioned here. Is the Nikon 300p a viable alternative to the S95 in the real world? I know it has no RAW and a smaller sensor but it has HD video, an f 1.8 lens and a 2 year...
