They're just fresnel screens in front of a standard flash gun, I use the same myself. Put one in front of a decent flash (SB800/580EX) and it will concentrate the flash into a narrower beam and throw it great distances. The main problem is eye-shine/steel-eye... the natural world's equivilant...
