I have a Polaroid one, it’s great, the Lencarta one I’d say is better.
But if you don’t mind the weight and you’re wanting to move it about, Essential photo do one with automatically collapsible legs, which works great.
There’s a big difference between software bugs and mechanical faults.
And it seems:
Nikon fix their design errors with recalls, Panasonic don’t, and Canon don’t make design errors
Obviously joking, but in recent memory Nikon are gaining a reputation for releasing faulty cameras
Cruising puts some severe limits on ‘proper photography’ as do family activities.
Just take the OM gear as planned, try to get all the opportunities to shoot that you can, expect to shoot some pano’s because some of the vistas are amazing.
Hope you get the weather we got, which was...
It’s ever so possible that I’m an idiot here.
But my advice to newbies is take some pictures. Newbies tend to concentrate on the easy stuff to the point of making it seem difficult. Meanwhile ignoring the important part cos it seems obvious.
Your camera does the maths brilliantly, but will...
Reading the article, it’s spelled out the the regulations and guidance for customs agencies.
So basically it would take Nikon UK to badger the police into an investigation to gain traction. I can’t see that being a priority.
It’s perfectly capable, but if you’re working to a budget, as Garry has pointed out, an old school decent s/h head could be half that price?
Decent stands, are important (so don’t cheap out), and cheap softboxes will collapse after a few cycles of build / dismantle. Invest in a decent pop up...
I too am a happy TT685 user, but what might make me switch to the Li ion version would be improved recycle times.
I’ve got loads of spare batteries, but those burst rates are very attractive.
But you do realise we need to know a rough budget before we can make specific recommendations.
And whilst saying there’s no money for lighting (that you know you need) you’re daydreaming a a camera you absolutely don’t need
I’m reminded of the guy who asked a similar question some...
I suppose you’ve asked a direct question, so we should focus in on that.
What are you calling ‘inexpensive’? Ie what’s your budget.
If I was starting today from scratch, to do product photography. I’d probably spend £100 on a camera, £200 on a lens and £500 ish on lifting gear and other...
Welcome to TP, IMHO the lighting section here is a great place to learn all you’ll ever need to know, plus loads you don’t.
You could do a lot worse than starting with the lighting challenges there.
As above, not a chance. The good news is a big shoot through brolly is cheap as chips. https://amzn.eu/d/0ck9IGTS
But if you want to spend a tiny bit more, a brolly box is the best value modifier you can buy. Not quite the consistency of light you get from a large octa, but takes up no space...
I kinda agree entirely with Mark, but for slightly different reasons.
I think you could kinda work out a similar pose with 4 adults (particularly if you’re not aiming for something too serious), but I really don’t like the lighting with the 2 large soft boxes, one either side.
I’d light that...
