    Film Prices

I'm in the process of selling 17 boxes of out-of-date 120 slide film, 10 boxes gone so far. It hasn't been stored consistently well and given the price of processing and the fact that scanning colour negative film is easier, I decided to be rid of it. It has made enough at the moment to buy a...

    Kodak Cresta 2

Just read the article and it seems that the Cresta II has a glass rather than plastic lens and the results could be better. The Cresta II design seems to be inspired by the Brownie 127 (my first camera) so I guess it has a curved film plane to help keep pictures better in focus.

    Kodak Cresta 2

I have a Cresta 3, here is a shot from it, taken on Kodak Portra 160VC when colour film was dead cheap and you could afford to experiment with it. I have some other shots I took on Fomapan 200 but they are compromised by light leaks caused by the film not being tight on the take up spool...

    5x4 Negative

My earlier scanner is a 3200, which I still have I think, stashed away at the back of a cupboard.

    5x4 Negative

I use an Epson V700, no complaints. Before that I had an earlier Epson scanner for up to to 5x4, good enough scans although 35mm wasn't that good, except in black and white. Can't imagine what advantage a camera set up might be except greater resolution (what for?), the Epson dynamic range is...

Show us yer film shots then!

Yes, I visited there when I previously lived in Bolton, in the 1970's. I would pass it on my journeys for rehearsals at a friends house in Macclesfield. Thanks.

Show us yer film shots then!

I would have gone from some probably heavy handed post processing to boost the vibrance and saturation, but that's the way I like it. What is the location? Looks like a beautiful Tudor house.

    Whats your favorite Canon Lens?

Macro EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM, which I use for most of my museum archive photography, quick to focus and super sharp (maybe just a bit behind the L version but not so much that you would notice, I expect). It was also pretty cheap when I bought it used last year. Under some circumstances I revert to...

New Old Film Challenge - #273 - Memorable Holiday -- POLL ADDED

Cancun, Mexico, September 2001 for my brother-in-law's wedding. At the meal after the wedding we were entertained by a mariachi band. This is the tres player. Yashica GX rangefinder, Tri-X. I had two of these outstanding fixed lens rangefinder cameras which I sold to finance the purchase of...

    Post processing preferences?

I should have said that the pictures work well in 3D, print them at 160mm wide and you can view them using an OWL viewer or even a vintage Holmes viewer.

    Post processing preferences?

Again the distant hills are barely visible in the original. Finally, nowt to do with the other pictures, a remarkable slide of Edwardian elegance meets a geological wonder. I visited here many times with my dad when I was young. He was a geologist and fascinated by the, and nearby, limestone...

    Post processing preferences?

Some examples of the select sky tool, revealing some detail which isn't at all obvious to the naked eye, these being scans of @Barney stereo slides. In the above, the cloud and background mountains aren't to be seen when viewing the slide but now can be seen. The scene must have been...

    Post processing preferences?

I've found the select sky and select subject very useful with old, found negatives, in particular those taken on ortho film. Using the select sky allows me to lower the sky exposure so it isn't completely white, sometimes you can pick up some cloud shapes. It's easy though to overdo it. I...

    5x4 film holders

Yes, I bought a pair of 5x7 holders from a dealer and one of them turned out to be half plate. I don't know how they got them mixed up as they were both marked with their correct sizes. Anyway, the rogue holder was replaced without question.
