Thanks, as I said I do appreciate I'm being fastidious, but equally it's (for me at least) a piece of very expensive kit and I want it to function correctly!

Thanks for the responses guys. I've been a bit more scientific and opened the photos up on photoshop. It's a spot affecting about 20 pixels. Using the ruler you can see the mark at approximately 1274 across and 2400 down (I don't know what the measurement is, I think it's in hundreds of pixels)...

I appreciate I'm being pernickety, but at the end of the day when you spend a considerable amount of money on something you do want it to be up to scratch. Upon further inspection it doesn't look like a single pixel, but rather a mini 'scar' on the sensor, affecting perhaps 30-40 pixels?

Thanks for the helpful and rapid responses! Now I was picking between the 600D and the D5100, and this may be a case of 'Grass is Greener on the other side' syndrome, but would the D5100, which apparently copes better in lower light, suffer from similar problems at these ISOs?

Many thanks for the help guys. Think I'm going to go for the 600D! The build quality didn't feel quite as good, but it was far from awful and it significantly tops the D5100 on video and, for me, the look of the image is better. Cheers!
