    Defraggin

There is no universal rule for the frequency of defragging; it depends entirely on the usage patterns which in turn govern the rate of fragmentation buildup. I set my defragger Diskeeper to auto defrag mode; it works perfectly, monitoring fragmentation in the background and defragging...

    I sold my soul

I love my ipod Touch Gen-2, but I'd never get an iphone for the simple reason that (i) it cannot multitask and (2) I need a physical keypad..I cannot type on a glass screen without royally bungling it up :( I am eagerly awaiting/hoping for the release of the Motorola Milestone/Droid here...

    Which HDMI?

My SG$0.02: this HDMI cable scam is quite widespread it appears. Just recently, I bought a Pioneer upscaling DVD player (SG$170) which did not include cables; the salesman was trying to push a 'high end' HDMI cable that cost nearly as much as the player itself (SG$150!)!!! Even after I gave him...

    Vista and Defrag

I vote for Diskeeper 2009 Pro. Back when i had Vista, that's what I ran on it. Fast and efficient background auto operation that doesn't disturb other apps. Unfortunately, it's not free, but has a host of useful features such as system files defrag, multiple drive simultaneous defrag etc, so...

Calling All Pentax & Samsung Users!!!!!!!

I played around with a pre-production K-7 a couple of weeks ago, and it's really impressive. Feels like a precision tool compared to the K20D..build quality is high..partly due to the Mag body I assume, the switches and knobs are well positioned, and the shutter makes a 'sophisticated'...

    Macro Lens Which one ?

I used to have the Sigma 105/2.8 (Pentax mount) and it's an excellent lens optically. I can easily recommend it. Didn't like the noise it made during AF, but not a major problem. I sold it off a couple of months ago to fund a new long zoom, and I already regret it. Someone once told me that...

why do canon have so many more fast (AF) lenses than nikon?

I think you pretty much nailed it.

why do canon have so many more fast (AF) lenses than nikon?

:lol:Hilarious! VR/IS/SR is extremely helpful in locations like museums where prohibit flash and tri/monopods. If you can consistently get sharp images at 1/10sec and 25-50mm without some sort of stabilization, then congratulations!

That's music to my ears..er i mean, a nicely exposed image to my eyes.:D I think holding off on the purchase of the *300/4 was a good decision on my part. I almost bought one last month, but resisted the temptation and decided to wait. I could not have afforded both the lenses within such a...

    How often do you defrag?

Defrag improves file access times since it takes longer to read a moderate/heavily fragmented file compared to an unfragmented one. Same with free space fragmentation...writing a file as a contiguous block is faster than writing it into many small gaps inbetween other files. Sequential...

why do canon have so many more fast (AF) lenses than nikon?

Speaking from personal experience, it's always nice to have VR/IS/SR, even with fast, 'short lenses'. I find that it makes a difference..even 'just' a 2 stop advantage is useful..if it means being able to use ISO 400 for static subjects, instead of going higher. Even otherwise, shots with SR...

Calling All Pentax & Samsung Users!!!!!!!

If it's as good as the *16-135s then it will be awesome. ;)The first shots from the Dpreview forums do look promising. I was toying with the idea of getting the DA*300/4, but I'll be getting the 60-250 instead..it will be very versatile given it's zoom range. BTW, great lens collection you...

why do canon have so many more fast (AF) lenses than nikon?

Why don't Nikon have a fast normal zoom with VR? It's a huge hole in their lineup. A 17-50 f/2.8 VR would be real nice. My friend recently bought a new dslr system..I tried to get him to go with a D90, the 70-200/2.8 VR and the 17-55/2.8 but he was tempted by the 17-55/2.8 IS from canon and...

Calling All Pentax & Samsung Users!!!!!!!

Since I had no legacy lenses to tie me down to a brand, I had the option of all brands when i chose my first dslr (K100DS) and once more when I upgraded to a K20D last year and decided to stick with Pentax. The reason i chose the K20D was -in built SR..all lenses are stabilized. -well...
