Non UK Tips for USA - North West trip.

Hi Mark, thanks for the info. Just arrived back yesterday ourselves. As you say the place is fabulous. We just happened to be at Crater lake for the supermoon eclypse, the weather was fabulous, couldn't have wished for anything better. Almost to good in some places. Didn't get to Ruby beach...

Non UK Tips for USA - North West trip.

Hey Mark, last I read was North entrance to Crater lake (Where you will probably be arriving from), is close for fire rescue services. Maybe worth a check nearer the time, might have to factor in extra travel time to get there by alternate route (West or South entrance)...

Non UK Tips for USA - North West trip.

We are also off to that area in 5 weeks, in Portland consider the Japanese gardens, 30 minutes east of Portland there are many spots along the Columbia river gauge. Moltnomah falls is just one to consider. If you can, try to fit in Shanico, an old ghost town. After Crater lake consider heading...

Hi all, Firstly thanks for the quick and enthusiastic replies. Some good news above, and as usually happens, some bad news. I'm fortunate enough to have retired so any day would work for me, however my son is still hard at work so it is planned for a Saturday. I guess its a case of suck it and...

    London Graffiti

Hi all In a few weeks, I'm off to London with my son on a photo shoot from sunrise to sunset, we have some areas we plan on visiting, but not knowing the city that well, we are looking to shoot some interesting graffiti/artists, in some safe areas. No offence to anyone, honestly, but there...

    What should i buy

Hi studio7goa, welcome to TP. Personally I'm a canon user, as such don't really know much about the Nikon range, the 5D3 is an awesome camera IMO, and would love to recommend it, however sep9001 makes a very sensible and valid point about already owning Nikon so the logical step would be another...

Within about 1 hr of Stevenage

Hi All, Next weekend I will find myself in Stevenage for my sins, I will have a spare day on Friday 5th July, looking for somewhere to go shoot, but not London as I will be there on Saturday. I'm looking for somewhere within about 1hr of Stevenage, either West, East or South'ish. Not really in...

    A Litle confused re ACR

Hi All, I could do with a bit of advice re Adobe Camera Raw, have a windows 7 64bit PC, 2MB ram, loads Hard drive space, I'm using Photoshop CS5, with the ACr that came with it. I have a Canon 5DMKii and a 550D. I think that covers all the "Need to Knows". My question is Can I upgrade to...

    Spain - Torrevieja

Thanks guys for the replies, particular thanks to Ricardo for the inspiration. I guess I'll just have to deposit the Mother-in-Law in a cafe somewhere and hopefully not forget to pick her up a few hours later. If I'm feeling particularly generous i may even leave her with a few Euros!!!

Focus on imaging is no more

Wilkinson cameras are advertising Digital Splash which is free to get in and has relatively cheap workshops. Thought I might go this year as it is in the Northwest (University of central lancs). Anyone been before I went to Digital Splash last year, well ermmm, if I said it was small and not...

New to the UK... so been trying to catch some ideas here!

Hi Danny, Welcome to Tp, and of course the UK, particularly North West England. Firstly you will find the weather somewhat different, the stuff you see falling from the sky is called rain. We get a lot of that here. However the good news is, because of the rain, we get a lot of greenery. Places...

    First time ND filters

Hi Mmwjc, I've used some "sub standard" ND grads in the past, got rid of them for two reasons mainly. 1. Colour cast 2. Way to small I've taken the plunge and bought some Lee filters, a set of soft Grads and a big stopper. The purchase hurt a little at first, especially since you can see lots...
