    Landed a job.

Well done on getting the job, sounds like it will be good. I agree with what the others have said about a wide angle lens. Also if you can, take a laptop with you and check you shots while your their, just to make sure you have the shot you want. Good luck :)

    Top 10 most expensive photographs

You can understand some of the older photographs making big sums from their historical/rarity. Its the Andreas Gursky photographs that I find surprising, I personally quite like some of his work and I'm sure it looks great to see it at its full scale, but it's value amazes me. I'm sure it was...

    Street Photography

Interesting read, I am the same as you James: I like street photography but have not given it a go yet. Now I know why, I haven't got a Leica :)

    Speedlite 580ex II Batteries

I have found uniross rechargeables to be the best, their current highest power is 2700mah. Get a good charger to that can discharge them.

    Formatt filters ... any good?

You may know them as Hi-Tech filters. Yeah I have some of their ND's and ND grads I have no complaints about them.

    International Warranties

Well if something did happen to go wrong in the warranty period, you could post it back for repair a few times for £230, I think I would take the risk.

    Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

It depends if you need a the high frames per second for sports for example or shoot a lot in low light at a higher iso. If the answer is no, I would go for the 450D, the lowest priced is always the best value camera in the range as canon are trying to get you to buy into their lens system and...

    Professionals.

Its the same with other professions it can seem like your paying money for nothing. I think photography is a little different to other professions that need regulating, in that you have a portfolio so what the client can expect is very visible to them.

    Professionals.

Interesting thread, it seems professional means different things to different people. Do any of the professional photographers, see any value in a society membership like the Royal Photographic Society, the equivalent of which is needed to work "professionally" in some other occupations?

The truth is photography is getting easier with digital, you can get feedback of your mistakes immediately and learn from them and with the web you also have a market to promote yourself and sell your images. As cameras continue to improve and the web develops further the situation is just...

    portable softbox light

The 60cm ezybox packs down into a round bag about 25cm in diameter and 12cm deep, it doesn't fold totally flat like the reflectors, but not bad for its opened size. I use a ST-E2 to trigger it, which is of course infra red and works fine, so I can't see you having any issues with wireless triggers.
