As dogfish says it is a fully manual affair and if you want to set an aperture you have to use the dof preview button and take the lens off whilst holding the button down. Its a faff!

I have the canon 100mm f2.8 macro which i bought for approx £400 new, cracking lens no complaints. I think the only way you will get anything like macro action from the 70-200 is to use some extension rings since it's closest focus distance is 1.2m. I don't know how well they will work with this...
