    Premium bonds winnings.

You’re getting cheques? I had no idea they still did these. At least you can pay cheques in on banking apps these days, used to be a real pain having to find an open branch to pay them into.

    Selling older gear, regrets?

I’m only a hobbyist, I don’t think I’ve ever regretted selling old gear as it usually means I’ve got something new to play with. I changed from DSLR to micro 4/3 last year, might change again n future for new toys but don’t regret selling my old stuff.

What is your most used camera and why ?

Panasonic LX-100. It’s a lot more portable than my DLSR, and has really good image quality in low light (for a compact camera). I’ve just bought into the M43 range so I’ll see if this changes over the coming months.

Is the Sigma/Tamron 600 better than say the Canon 400 with an extender?

    Are phones making cameras obsolescent?

For years average holiday camera, point and shoot compact I think the answer is yes. For hoobyists and up, no. There is still a market for higher quality cameras with greater flexibility,. Also camera phone even now are quite general and not great for specialist areas (macro, sports etc.).

    Canon 400mm 2.8 IS USM

Probably not what you need given the lighting but if you want to try a cheaper version I've got a 400mm 5.6 for sale?

Scammed and so angry with myself

Don’t listen to the fools saying you are stupid to send money to someone you don’t know. I’ve bought loads of items via forums (including this one) where I’ve sent money via BT to a stranger and I’ve not been scammed. Yes it might happen in future, but I do what due diligence I can and trade...

    Beginner Instax Wide cameras.

Have you though of a mini printer like the Canon Selphy? You can get a battery for full portability, reduced cost and less compromises vs an Instax.

    South-East England Hi, newbie Hampshire

Welcome. I like landscape and architecture too but really struggle with composition (then lighting, focus.....). See you around the place.

    The pain of photography

Not really photography related but linked to meaning about pain for the things we love (don't worry, no wife jokes approaching). I referee rugby after giving up playing due t too many injuries. Each game means at least 2 days of pain/recovery and general hobbling around, particularly stairs...

    The travel compromise - Recommendations?

Yep, I'm thinking more of sticking with the LX100. Why pay more for a camera with more zoom but less IQ? I don't want the bulk of the SLR, even with say a small 10-22mm lens. Decision made (for now!) - stick with the LX100, and don't worry about the close ups of the game.

    The travel compromise - Recommendations?

I've got a nifty fifty, but for walk around mainly use a Tamron 24-70 VC. I could take this fairly easily, it's not ideal for the walk around bag I want to take which is a fairly thin messenger style bag, but is would fit.

    The travel compromise - Recommendations?

The point is I'm trying not to take the SLR! I think the best compromise might be to stick with what I have, and not worry about the game. The LX100 is great as a walk around (potentially not wide enough for landscape, but my SLR is a crop sensor anyway so I'm normally only at c.28mm wide...

    The travel compromise - Recommendations?

I should have known this thread would make it harder than easier ;-) I'd not considered a bridge camera, but I suppose it is the gap in my camera collection (well, assuming I don't go for a zoom 1" sensor, maybe another gap?). You were right to comment on the size though, it does put me off...

What are you using as more compact/second camera

I've got a Panasonic LX100. It is a little short on zoom, but has great IQ. I'm finding I'm using it more and more as it is so convenient to just pop this in a small shoulder bag (along with all the junk I need for the kids) and not have to lug the SLR, 2-3 lenses and associated equipment...
