D50 has a built in motor

who is he lending your camera to? , what he is doing is borrowing your camera :)

I had a similar predicament a few years ago i had a d50and was looking for an upgrade, do i buy a d80 or a d200 and do i sell or keep the d50, i decided that i would keep the 50 as a spare, and buy a d200 ,after my first few shots i regretted buying the 200 as the quality of my shots went down...

you thought it was a bargin when you bought it , would you be wanting to return it had it gone up by £40, I think not

it has stamped on the mount ,so my guess is the old pentax k bayonet fitting

Nothing unusual it happens just before almost every new release
