Ok an update from me. I went into Glasgow last wednesday and left my camera and lens with AJ Johnstone. I asked the to check and inspect both. They've confirmed that the lens needs adjusted and that they will service my camera and reset the camera body depths? and fully recalibrate it and...
I contacted them and they said they'd provide me with a detailed estimate after examination for free and I'd only need to pay the return carriage (which seemed VERY reasonable). I'm covered with my home insurance if worst comes to worst (although have a £175 excess) so as long as repairs (if...
thanks gas!! - I think I'm probably just being paranoid.. I'm going to need to take it out for a proper shoot (hopefully at the weekend) and review results then.. if not 100% i'll send it in for a service.. I agree about movement - I think you just imagine these things are worse than they...
Hi Gaza - the front element is OK as far as I know?.. the crack you see is the lens filter (which I managed to get off with patience and a pair of pliers!).
thanks for all the replies... I've done some more testing and inspecting today and fairly confident (as much as I can be that the camera is ok). With regards to the lens - I'm also fairly certain it seems to be ok as well (I'm just not sure that it can be given it was dropped onto concrete!!)...

I was out shooting last night and made the cardinal sin of dropping my lens/camera (600D with EF 24-105mm attached) from about 3 feet onto pavement! (zoom fully retracted at time). The noise it made was absolutely...
you got some pretty good advice early on which was to buy the camera (whichever one you decide on) with the kit lens and then as your skill and experience builds up - decide what lenses you need from their and build your collection.. but in the last two pages all you seem to have done is...
solid white background, lie your baby on their back, wife/girlfriend stands next to you with baby's favourite rattle/toy, you shoot from overhead - job done! ;)
How exactly do you convert it to a monopod? - I've tried unscrewing the leg with the red band and it seems to be welded on!!.. was your leg stiff or is there a knack to removing it??
pretty sure that still adds the file in as an actual image.. as far as i remember - the only way to insert it as an icon/attachment is how i posted.. ;) :)
My tripod and head arrived today!! - VERY happy with my purchase and glad I decided to go for this setup.. the build quality is extremely good!!.. now just need to get out and use it!! :)
