New camera recommendations - great sensor, fast prime lens - old fashioned simplicity

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have gone for a GR, and will probably also try to fund the DP1M. Whether I'll keep both is unclear, but I'm certainly going to have some fun deciding! Off to see a play in the local woods tomorrow - any general advice with using the GR, and the DP1M should...

    Sigma DP Merrils Price Drop

I just phoned a shop to buy a DP1 M as they had a used on listed, to find after a couple of minutes chatting that it had gone! £269 so not a bad price. Any suggestions?

    Sigma DP Merrils Price Drop

Well this thread was a long read but highly enlightening. And it has made me give serious consideration to picking up a 1 or 2. Would owners suggest a 1 or 2 for street shots, such as colourful foreign markets and temples when on summer hols? And on another note, how much time needs to be spent...

Thanks everyone. Seems I can't go wrong with any of these choices. Pity it can only be one! I may have to toss a coin to decide as there really is so little to separate any of them.

New camera recommendations - great sensor, fast prime lens - old fashioned simplicity

As the X-Pro1 and X-E2 are the same price refurbished, is there a clear winner between the two? All the cameras on this short list will do a sterling job, and all are slightly different, but is there on which stands out more than the others? By pure coincidence I bumped into a neighbour at the...

New camera recommendations - great sensor, fast prime lens - old fashioned simplicity

Thanks for the suggestions. The more I read and reflect the more I want to avoid a camera with a zoom lens. One with a prime lens really appeals, not only for the optics but also the composition challenges and results it will present and offer. That obviously excludes some which are not system...

Thanks. Not a bad recommendation although f2.8 is at the upper level of what I'd like. Picky, I know

New camera recommendations - great sensor, fast prime lens - old fashioned simplicity

Morning all Having read many of the threads here I'm interested in buying something smaller than my DSLR and more advanced than my compacts, that will focus primarily on the sensor and the optics of a prime lens, rather than superzoom, wifi and all the bells and whistles that many come with...

Morning from city of dreaming spires

Morning all Thought I'd post a intro message having read some of the threads over the last few days and ahead of posting properly. Really looking forward to getting involved on here and improving my knowledge and techniques. Best David
