    Thinking about weddings.

I don't want to seem negative, but another thing you have to consider is that the work tends to be seasonal. Once launched, I found work built quickly and shot 20 weddings in my second season - but being found by Google was critical to that success.

    Thinking about weddings.

Hi, one of your problems might be cash flow? Even if you get up and running (good luck with that), and when you get your first booking; you might have to wait some considerable time before getting paid. I'm currently taking enquiries and bookings for weddings in 2013 and 2014. For your...

    Wedding tips...

If you are shooting a long day, swop memory cards. I shoot with 2 x D700's and take 4 memory cards. After the wedding and before the wedding breakfast/reception, I will swop the memory cards to 'bank' the pictures I've already captured. Paul White Petal Wedding Photography

Wedding invitation photo - suggestions welcome

Getting the dogs closer to you is one option, maybe they can throw a stick or ball past you, then catch the dogs running towards you (fast s/speed rqd!) Alternatively raise the dogs, sit them all on a bench or get the dogs up on a raised platform? Pose them tight and fill the frame.

    Hats off to wedding photographers!

I have to admit I shoot with WB set to auto and find it works well 95% of the time. Colour casts are corrected in Lightroom, a fantastic bit of software.

Finding time to enjoy your hobby

I have a different take on the same problem, I work full time as a wedding photographer and for the last 6 months it's been full on with about a three week turn around on each set of photos. The problem I have is that whilst I enjoy what I do, I am aware that I don't tend to find time to go...

    Has anyone used the lightspere

I did try one some time back, it was okay and do a decent job but the down side is the size. To be honest, I also made one out of a small plastic milk carton and some velcro attachments and the test results were almost indistinguishable; but of course no one wants to walk around with a milk...

    The D700 is dead,long live the D700

Well said, I agree....... but each to his own. I bought a second D700 after the D800 launch and love the camera because it ticks all the right boxes for me. Am still running the two D700's and no plans to change.

Shooting the aisle shots with primes

Agreed, I also switch to Continuous Focus mode to 'track' my subject when moving towards (or away) from me.

    Portrait lens

Agreed, I recently bought an 85mm f1.8D for my Nikon D700 just for portraits. But before you choose, remember effective focal lengths change when on FX or DX cameras. I'm not up on Canon gear, but if yours is a DX format, then consider a fast 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 ;)

    Wedding tips...

Turn your phone off! :) Ramp up the ISO inside, better to have a sharp shot with some grain than a soft blurred one you can't use.

Have some Wedding Photographers lost the plot

I have to say I agree with this comment, I think one wedding can involve three styles of photography; traditional wedding shots and formal group portraits, reportage story telling candid shots (which seem very popular) and then those special shots where the couple are posed. My blog posts...
