That's what I was told, that the D610 shutter would be fitted to my D600 as 'it fits'. I even got Nikon to send me a letter through the post stating it.
It's funny how Nikon seem to have told different (and by that I mean contradictory) stories to some regarding the shutter replacement!
Well, that was an interesting phone call I just had with the Nikon UK service center.
They assure/guarantee me that they are using D610 shutters to replace the faulty D600 ones (there were some who were saying that they wouldn't fit in the D600 body).

Unacceptable, it really is. One presumed that the new shutter would have solved this oil/dust problem but clearly not.
Peter, how many shots was that image after the new shutter installation?
I am still waiting for someone to confirm that cleaning your own sensor within the first two years of a Nikon body ownership invalidates the warranty. That's the reason why many maybe did/could not clean their own sensors.
Yes it's a two minute job but the whole process of sending it off...
So was I at first! But I have read of people going above its maximum intended load rating of 1.5kg. The say it isn't ideal for video panning shots, but seeing as I don't 'do' video it doesn't bother me!
As they say, the proof is in the pudding and I shall be trying it out shortly (gripped D600...
