85--1.8 is also my recomendation for portraits. It is good to have lower f number because of the light power , but 1.4 is no need for more situations.

With 1,8 or F2 you will have shallow DOF but pictures will be less sharp. It is good idea to try F number around 2.8 but subject to be at good distance from baground. And also to use telephoto lenses 70-200 mm and full the frame at aprox 90-100 mm for portraits.

I had Tamron 2.8 for Canon and i was happy with the results. Some collegues say that Tamron are a bit flat about colors, but who cares when we all do posteditiing.

85 mm is better in my opinion.To be honest 1.4 is useless in most situations.I personaly never go under F2

55-210 is good all around lens to bring it with you everywhere.As you say , you have to buy another for low light like 85mm 1,4 . Unfortunatly this lens is expensive, you also can buy 50 mm 1.8.For wide angle just avoid kit 16 to 50 .Better choose 18-105.it is milion times better.

Raw is the format. If you need corect WB, first picture of the location you should make with white card in the frame.Later in PP you just chose WB pen and press on top of the white card and WB will be corect. Some people say you can make it with grey card, but grey card is for exposure ,not for WB.

6d is full frame, so good all around lens is 24-105 L , but is expensive. If you using 60 d then use 17-55 2,8 dont use FF body with crop lenses and oposite. Also many people use 90 mm Tamron Makro for portraits. You have 2 in 1 . Great portrait lens and great makro lens

Focus on Lightroom. You will choose soething else and after few months will realise that Lightroom is amazing ,only thing that is missing are the layers, but if your pictures are with good composition you dont need them.
