Dell XPS are the ultimate backpacking laptops but are very expensive, especially for an i7.
It may be worth getting an i5 used as that should be capable of doing everything i need.
I think an i7 would be too much risk to loose / get damaged too.
I plan on carry an external hard drive to store...
Hi all,
Looking at heading out on a backpacking trip for 6-9 months.
I'd like to take a laptop with me with my main (most demanding use) being Lightroom. (I have a hard copy of LR5)
I will of course do the standard googling / watching films but thats pretty standard.
I have heard that not...
Hmm, i will have a trawl through my Flickr settings and see if i can allow it for a short while. I can always switch it off again after.
Await and update!
Hi all,
Took a quick snap of two mates on holiday and before I do anything in post, can someone remove the annoying straw for me?

Much appreciated!
No seats, purely roving around. No step ladders either!
Was hoping 70-200 with a 1.4tc would be enough but maybe not.
Thats essentially 98-280mm. Plus my crop factor on top.
Maybe il just take the larger lens and the TC.
Hopefully i wont need anything less than 120mm?
Can always take a...

Option 1. You have been happy with what you are doing for a while and will feel the upgrade to the Dell ultrasharp. Also:
1) It gives you a new toy
2) You have £££ in your pocket
3) you can treat yourself to another toy/upgrade in a few years
4) if you dont like the monitor, sell it and choose...
@Tradecanvasprint - When ordering canvas prints, should I tweak the exposure at all? Unsure if they print slightly darker than the image appears on a screen. (or lighter?!)
You will be amazed how many people wont even notice you. People with large camera lenses is almost the norm nowadays so the public don't bat an eyelid.
If the colour of a lens stops you taking photos, perhaps there is an underlying issue?
Always find it a pain getting a nice shot, but having some killer reflections in the windscreens. Some tracks it is less noticeable than others (e.g if they have larger areas for run off)
I have a sigma 70-200 f2.8 Macro. Again, ignore the macro part but its a massive improvement over kit lens style zooms. Focuses quickly and mine seems pretty solid.
I did have to send it off to Sigma to have it rechipped as I have a newer body.
