Buzzard nests destroyed by Natural England

...and none of these land owners have realized that by feeding BOP and setting up hides they could charge in excess of 100 quid a day to let photographers shoot the birds?

    Safari Advice

Well Kruger wise, the main park, there are few real opportunities. The view from Oliphants maybe or a star ridden sky (really clear around there). If it does not take too much space or weight then why not, you never know.

    Yorkshire, wildlife photo opportunities?

Nice thanks. Swaledale is on my list of must re-visits :) Especially up Muker and Keld way. Any specific hills? ;)

    Bempton Cliffs and Blacktoft Sands

At Bempton cliff turn left and follow the path until the fence runs out... then you can sit yourself near the edge in the long grass and the gannets will come within a few yards of you.

    Yorkshire, wildlife photo opportunities?

As I will be spending part of my summer leave in the UK I am looking to find some wildlife in or around the dales. Would love to get snipes, grouse, little owls, rabbit... well anything to be honest... foxes would be nice too. :) Any locals recommend anything, I was local until I moved to...

    Favourite subject and why?

I love wild boar late autumn, they are so big yet so timid, frightening too. Winter coats are through and finding them is easy, once the acrons fall that is ;) In the winter it is the buzzards, if you can lure them down, watch their pecking order, they fight and quarrel. Brilliant birds to...

    Safari Advice

I would say use apperture mode, f8 to keep the 100-400 at it's sharpest unless in low light. sorted. I have taken a tripod 3 times on safari and only the first time did I use it, but for Vic Falls. You are mostly in a vehicle so take a bean bag.

Canon 5D MKIII (UK Production Body) Test Images & Thoughts

It has to be something in camera which is enabled and slowing the buffer down, I am sure with the 7D it was highISO NR. If it really will only hit 12frames, THAT SUCKS!

Canon 5D MKIII (UK Production Body) Test Images & Thoughts

Do you have HighISO noise reduction activated? If you do you will not get the full buffer....and it would explain the lack of chroma noise. ;)

Advice on kit to take to India

We wandered all over Delhi and never had a problem, my 5D and 24-105 were always in my hand, except when I had the 100-400 on (millions of black kites in Delhi, amazing opportunities for shots!). I would not worry about safety if there are two of you, we never once felt concerned.

    Only 3fps on 5D?!

The 5D has superior IQ to the 1DII or IIn, but they are faster. Nikon give you more FPs, especially when using a grip but Canon seem intent to cripple us into buying a fast cam and a slow cam. The 5D II is 3.9 fps because the 1DsIII is 5fps, the 7D is 8.5 fps because the 1DIIIa nd IV are...

ONE SHOT, AI FOCUS and AI SERVO

Considering the 1D bodies do not have an AI focus mode, I would avoid it. I does not work. I have tried repeatedly and given up. If a 1D does not need it, neither do I!
