Thanks for the response. Unfortunately my budget doesn’t run to any of the Canon mark II telephoto primes, which all have superior IQ.

Could you expand? I know it’s a divisive lens (sharpness, lack of contrast) amongst users but I’ve rented one previously and it performs well at f5.6. I’d be predominately shooting at that aperture due to the 1.4x extender.

Hi, Bit of a long shot but has anyone tried this combination - Canon R7 + EF-EOS R Mount Adapter + Canon 1.4x III extender + EF 400mm f4 DO Mark I. Not conventional but it’s what I’m thinking of due to cost, weight, transportation. For wildlife in UK and Europe.
