    Blending sky with foreground (Astro)

    A really difficult subject to mask when you include the trees. To be honest your ate probably better to increase the iso when shooting or light paint as softly as you can. Most of my MW images are on the coast so I tend to do longer exposures for the foreground and my 20s exposure for the stars...

    Do you think it's possible to be a great Landscape Photographer and a Youtuber?

    Of course it's possible, all depends on time, application and talent.

    D850 --> Z

    I originally wanted the Z7 but for the first 4-5 months, the import price was similar to the UK price so I bought the D850. I only changed as I saw that Panamoz were doing the Z7, FTZ and 24-70 F4 for £2800 and I managed to get them to price match at £2580. So I decided to sell the D850 and my...

    Fine art b&w processing tips

    I'd keep away from guasian blur unless you like banding, especially if you are trying to do this technique in colour! Colour fine art techniques are ridiculously hard to do without the correct conditions, why do you think most fine art photography is in mono ;) This is a good idea to start but...

    Fine art b&w processing tips

    Fog is obviously ideal but a lot of the linked images would have been manipulated in post-processing to lose the horizon, no doubt about that. There is no need for compositing though its all done within one file with really simple tools and techniques and you're not adding anything to the image...

    2018 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year

    Lol, 99% luck I'd say especially getting past the 1st round of judges in LPOTY. As always with any art form its all subjective, the views on winning image will be split right down the middle this year IMO. It is funny when people moan about any competition directly after the results, it really...

    2018 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year

    Was all said tongue in cheek, I don't take them seriously at all and you need a lot of luck in all the comps. I have to say it is funny watching people get irate who don't even enter tho :p

    2018 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year

    Yep the Sony World Photography Awards gets over 330k entries and caters for a lot of styles, I've been lucky to have 1 commended image in creative and 2 in architecture over the past 2 years. It does seem that LPOTY has similar tastes to Sony though, one of the Architecture/landscapes won the...

    2018 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year

    Lol well, at least you're honest! So do you still enter, or are you a pro and have been put off by the info you were given? Be a shame if you didn't enter as I personally don't think that's correct, just look how well Stuart McGlennon has don this year and he's a pro.
