Frustration when Canon 5D3 goes to standby in Live View

I'm probably being thick, but I get frustrated quite often, especially when "taking my time" to get a nice landscape. I think my problem is that I use the Custom set C1 as my default for this type of photography. It's useful to have Low ISO, Manual Exposure, Mirror Lockup etc. all dialled in...

    Stiff Manfrotto Ball Head

I've got a Manfrotto Proball 468 head on my tripod which has become really still, making it difficult to make fine adjustments to the camera position. It's had the occasional bit of salt-spray in the past, but lots of english summer to rinse it through! Any thoughts on the best way to free it...

    Female to Female stud connector?

I'm sorry. I have no idea what your post means, but nevertheless, Female to Female Stud Connector sounds like a job I'd enjoy.

Advice on light(er) weight backup to DSLR

I must say I've been tempted by the reviews of the GX1. I take it you're happy with the quality of the 14-42 then? How would you feel if you only had to have one lens?

Advice on light(er) weight backup to DSLR

I have a Canon 5D3 which I love dearly - it recently replaced my 5D2. I like shooting landscapes, and the 5D3 will always be my go-to camera for that, and lots more besides. However I also like shooting street, candids, and lots of other things, and sometimes the 5D3 with a heavy lens is just...

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Very impressive. Makes up for the fact that the Exif shows that there's a wee problem with the shooting date! ;)

    Teaching Photography...Film or Digital?

My 17 year old daughter has expressed an interest in taking up photography, and was keen to spend a week on a course to get her up and running. I duly booked her onto a week-long course at the very highly regarded (I think?!) Central St. Martins in London: Photography for 16-18 year olds...

    which wideandle for 5d mk11

I can't comment on the 17-40, but the reviews from users are consistently great. I went for the 16-35 on my 5D2, and love it. Perversely, I hardly ever shoot it wide open - f8 - f11 is more the norm, but I get a nice warm glow from knowing that I COULD shoot at 2.8 if I wanted!

Whats your most used slot in filter?

Having found the effects of the 3 stop hard grad a bit harsh in a few shots recently, have just bought a 2 stop soft grad. Time will tell which I end up using the most.

Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM

Had the Canon 50mm 1.8 AND 1.4, but ended up trading them both in for the Siggy. Definitely find the latter a better lens (it is more expensive after all) - and this from a bit of a Canon fanboy.

    Manual Focus Loupe

I recently got a Hoodman Loupe. I agree with earlier posters that for accurate focussing the magnified live view is great, but the loupe is handy in bright light. I also find it useful if I've got the camera mounted on a tripod in an awkward position - very low or high - it somehow makes it...

    Canon 70-200mm f2.8 mk2 - lens for pros?

I don't know what Selfridges are charging, but based on what I've seen on the big London stores, you'll pay a lot more for the privilege of shopping there! Probably a good place to have a play with the kit though!
