    I think that Espen Hellend shows how you can have a button that changes to Procap, the benefit being that none of your other settings changes - rather than have a Custome mode r change the dial to pro cap. Google him and check out.

    I am mainly into wildlife, especially birds, so most photos were taken with a 150-400 (micro4/3). You do not want to be changing lenses in many of the places so a zoom would be preferred. You may want to try borrowing / renting another body / lenses, cheaper than going to CR again!! We did not...

    Costa Rica has many different places and they are not all dimly lit rain forest. I was there last year and would go for the zoom based on where we went. Cannot comment on the quality of lenses as I have never used Nikon. There are also plenty of opportunities for frogs, snakes etc so not sure...

    Gear failure? How many have had it happen?

    Not sure if it counts as gear failure but I dropped a hard drive 9 days into a trip in Costa Rica:oops: :$. So much for downloading a daily basis.Fortunately was able to retrieve the photos when back in the UK, but at a cost! Guess who will be backing up to two drives on any future trips:confused:

    300 by a mile. The 100-400 can vary a lot but the 300 is incredibly sharp even with teleconvertor.
