Thanks for the replies so far. At the moment I keep switching from one to the other and can't make my mind up. I'm starting to think that the canon will suit my needs more as it is lightweight and will complete a nice set of f4 Zooms that I can carry around in a small bag. If I need f2.8 then...

I can't say that I need 2.8, I suppose I can always use the 120-300 if I did, but it would be nice to have. I'm more concerned about getting the best quality lens than about getting f2.8 I think.

I suppose I would be happy to consider used lenses too but I still don't think that allows me to get either of the canon 2.8s within my budget. So yeh it's probably still between the canon f4 and sigma 2.8 then.

Hi Thanks for the reply. The lenses that I will be using the filters with are all 77mm or less so does that mean I would be ok with the 85mm range then? I had been looking at 100s. Thanks
