    70-200 - Canon v Sigma

Thanks for the replies so far. At the moment I keep switching from one to the other and can't make my mind up. I'm starting to think that the canon will suit my needs more as it is lightweight and will complete a nice set of f4 Zooms that I can carry around in a small bag. If I need f2.8 then...

    70-200 - Canon v Sigma

I can't say that I need 2.8, I suppose I can always use the 120-300 if I did, but it would be nice to have. I'm more concerned about getting the best quality lens than about getting f2.8 I think.

    70-200 - Canon v Sigma

I suppose I would be happy to consider used lenses too but I still don't think that allows me to get either of the canon 2.8s within my budget. So yeh it's probably still between the canon f4 and sigma 2.8 then.

    Drop in filters

Hi Thanks for the reply. The lenses that I will be using the filters with are all 77mm or less so does that mean I would be ok with the 85mm range then? I had been looking at 100s. Thanks

    70-200 - Canon v Sigma

Hi, I am a canon user with a 7D and my current zooms are the 17-40L, 24-105L and sigma 120-300 f2.8. I don't routinely take the sigma out with me because of it's size and weight, instead I keep it for motorsport events or when I know I will need it. So I'm thinking of getting a 70-200 that...

    Drop in filters

Hi, I've got a number of filters for my lenses, UV, circular polariser, various neutral density filters, all screw in. I've been reading a lot about graduated ND filters for landscapes recently and I would like to have a go. So I need a drop in filter holder and some filters. I've read...

    Buying Sgima 120-300 2.8

I'm not so sure, my main use for this lens is motorsport, and I've rented it three times now. I've never wished that I had the OS feature. I also hired a canon 300mm f4 IS, but I didn't really find the IS that useful. That said I have IS on my main walkabout lens, which is the Canon 24 - 105...

    Buying Sgima 120-300 2.8

I see, so what affect would this have on prices? Will companies discount the lens in order to clear stock, or increase the price as they become scare? I had heard about the OS version, but I assumed it would be built along side the current 120-300, is it actually a complete replacement then?

    Buying Sgima 120-300 2.8

Hi all, I rented this lens out a few times last year for a couple of motorsport events and was very impressed. I've been on the look out for one for a few months now and I'm hoping to pick one up by March / April when the season starts again. Recently everywhere seems to be selling them...

    7D Motorsport Set Up

Hi all, I have recently upgraded my 400d to a new 7d. I have done a lot of motorsport photography in the past with the 400d and my usual routine was to set the auto focus to the centre point and put it in to AI Servo and obviously continuous shooting and then sort out the exposure settings as...

    Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 - what's it like

I think its a great lens. Its pretty heavy, but it is well built compared to other sigma lenses that I have experienced. Im not too sure that the finish/coating will last forever, but apart from that the build is good. Image wise, ofcourse its not good as a Canon 300mm 2.8, but at half of the...

    Gear for Silverstone

Hi, Im off to Silverstone tomorrow for the full F1 weekend. I have been twice before and used my 400D and Sigma 70-300, although I had a selection of lenses with me, it was only really the sigma that I used. When I look at the photos that I kept and had printed, they were all taken at 300mm...

    Monitor calibration and printing...

I've just ordered a spyder 3 so I'll give it a go and then redo a few of the prints to compare.

    Monitor calibration and printing...

Hi all, Its been a long time since I actually printed any of my photos, so I'm going to make an effort to print a lot more. I've just received 200 prints from snapfish and they are reasonably good, the quality is "ok" and the colours are more or less right, there is one issue though, some...
