    Which Nikon 50?

Useful comparison here http://www.bythom.com/nikkor-50mm-f18-lens-review.htm which summarises my experience - 1.4 is great on FF, but 1.8 is a cracking lens particularly on crop.

    Nikkor 16-35mm f4 Alternatives

Thanks - some good suggestions in there for lenses I hadn't come across. The Cosina sounds like an absolute bargain!

    Nikkor 16-35mm f4 Alternatives

Hi I'm quite tempted by this lens (I use a D600) - it has a useful focal length range for landscapes (urban and rural) - and looks to be very well regarded in terms of optical performance - the distortion I can live with (ie fix in PP) and I don't need anything faster. Just wondering if...

    D7100 or D610?

Chris I went through a very similar thought process earlier this year in upgrading from a D90. My main frustration with the D90 was colour rendition - and both the D7100 and D600 (now the D610) improve hugely on this. Both camera are very highly regarded and in good light both have great IQ -...

    D3 or D600

You've pretty much summarised the main differences, so it depends what you want to use it for. The other thing to consider is the control lay out is different on the D600 - the D3 will be much closer to the D700 in terms of buttons and functions. So if you shoot for a living, or shoot lots...

Full Frame Sensor vs Crop Sensor* advice

If you have to ask the question as to which you need, then you don't need full frame. The differences are subtle, other than in cost. Sensible advice from Phil - start off cheaply then you'll work out what you want from a camera and can then upgrade accordingly. It's what works for you.

Which 50 mm lens for Nikon d90 would be better?

For the D90, I'd suggest the 1.8G. As others have noted, it's a cracking lens and sharper in the centre than the 1.4G. The 1.4G is sharper at the edges - hence its popularity on FF.

    Choose one photograpy book

Travel Photography by Steve Davey. http://www.stevedavey.com/travelphotography.html I like it for a number of reasons, photography has always been closely related to travel for me and it therefore strikes a chord and it also covers most types of photography. It's also a very comprehensive...

Nikon Lenses - help me please

You'll get no noticable distortion from a 50mm lens, either full frame or "cropped" on the D7000.

Nikon Lenses - help me please

The 85mm will be a bit long for general portrait work, 50mm just right. I have the 1.4G but by all accounts the 1.8G is a cracker and in budget. The 1.4 is sharper across full frame, but I don't think you'd see the benefit on DX, so I'd go for the 1.8. Prime lenses are great, and not just...

    D600 - no problems?

No major issue with dust, and love the camera. For me it's more than the resolution that appeals, the tones and colours always come out spot on. The smart Auto ISO makes it much easier to use the aperture to control DoF creatively. No complaints with autofocus either.

D600 - just how bad is the dust?

It's hard to draw any concrete conclusions but it seems that FF cameras are more susceptible than crop bodies. The D600 seems to suffer more than the D800, but experiences seem very varied and probably improving with later serial numbers. I've shot a couple of thousand pic on my D600 and...

Full frame DSLR vs Nikon D90

To second the comments above, in most circumstances there will be minimal difference in the image quality between FX and DX. There will be a difference between the older generation of sensors (D90) and newer (D7000/D7100), so I'd suggest bypassing the D90 and looking at the D7000 or D7100...

    D90 Vs D7000

I had a D90 as my first DSLR having moved from film. When I bought it there was a significant price premium to the D7000 which I couldn't justify. The D90 was a very good camera in its day, but things have moved on paricularly with sensors. As well as the D90's lower resolution, I found it...

    What lens for Nikon D7000.

For photos of kids and pets, the versatility of the 16-85vr is very useful. Having that extra telephoto reach will mean you get more shots outside.
