looking for some advice. I bought the wife a used 60D on eBay to see if she will like photography. The camera and lens arrived yesterday (yongnuo 50mm f1.8). opened it up to test it out and when trying to take a photo the flash goes off but the error ‘Err 01 communications between the camera...

Thanks for the speedy reply folks. J.Stock I think it will be mainly landscape and action shots of the dogs to get her going, along with an all rounder until she finds her feet/interests. I will go have a read up on the f2.8s as suggested. Appreciate your input.

Has to be the lens mate. You will want to see noticeable improvement from your cash. You will get this more with the lens upgrade.

Nifty Fifty Canon 100-400mm Canon grip. Thats the list il be hoping to splash out on this year. And a better tripod aswell. And a flash. and maybe some ND grad filters. Possibly another CF card. Bigger bag to accommodate the 100-400. Maybe a landscape lens. Think thats it :lol:

Hey Sarah, thanks for popping back :) Yeah, I thought it was well worth trying out. It did produce some nice effects, though I think the sepia gives it the old horror movie look! Which works really well in my opinion. I also agree that the final edit in post 58 i definitely the strongest...
