You may still be able to recover the files by connecting the camera to your computer via a cable rather than using the card in a card reader.

Is this monitor any good ??

Agree with this, use 3 ultrasharps at work and 2 at home. All excellent.

    Used Canon Cameras

A quick google suggests that the 7DII has an APS-C sensor so would be fine with a sigma DC lens. The 1DIV however is a APS-H sensor which is larger than a APS-C and therefore is likely not suitable for use with a DC lens.

Your sigma lens is a DC so is designed for APS-C sensor cameras

Do you still use ND Grads?

Interesting discussion so far, some great points. I'm taking it all on board. It'll be at least a month until I'm in the position to buy anything. My new panoramic head should arrive this week so I'll get busy shooting away with it and see if I feel that I still need the ND grads.

Do you still use ND Grads?

Ah, so in theory as the dynamic range of sensors has improved, it should be possible to bring back highlights better than in the past, as the information is there now whereas before it would have blown out? Does this still apply in the case of my 500D?

Do you still use ND Grads?

I'm returning to photography after a long break. I mostly shoot landscape stuff, particularly focused on panoramics. Years ago, my trusty set of ND grads went everywhere with me, they reduced post processing time significantly and simplified the process of producing a well balanced panoramic...

Beginner Complete n00b. Photos are very noisy.

The OPs images look like they may have been cropped and enlarged, does this camera have a 'digital zoom'?

Perhaps reshoot the above shots in goodnight and post them up with the exif for both to allow comparison?

Whats you best Android phone camera App ?

Do the different apps just offer more controls than the manufacturer provided app? Isn't the camera controls part of the operating system anyway so what advantage is there to third party apps?

    ND Filters

As above, cheaper filter holders are available for the big brands, saving you some money to then spend on the actual filters. Also, cokin still do the z-pro starter kit that comes with the holder, three different Nd grads and a filter case. Unless you've got particularly large lens diameters...

    pano set up

Great, thanks for the links. I'll hunt down an L bracket, although at first look I'm struggling to find one for my 500D so may end up with a universal one. (y)

    pano set up

Phil_b, do you have details or links to the parts you used to build this? I've just had a second return to photography, I've always loved taking panoramics, started with a panosaurus over 10 years ago, back when you had to select your own control points for stitching! Then got a chinese...

    What budget filter?

Where was this from? I'm looking for a pro1 but am a bit wary of buying fakes from ebay as mentioned above.
