    Band, James Band

Yes, it's a photo of my TV. I've taken shots of it before and not noticed anything unpleasant like that. E.g. I'm getting the sense that this banding is 'normal' then?

    Band, James Band

A friend visited today with his PS3 and I decided to try and grab some screenshots. It seemed OK at first, but it wasn't long before I started noticing quite obvious banding, almost like concentric circles, in bright areas. I could see the effect in the viewfinder. Does anyone know what this...

I could be out of luck then as I'll be using a Nikkor 18-200 which offers a measly 5.6. Ah well... thanks anyway.

    Floodlit sports photography

Planning to take my camera to a floodlit rugby match tomorrow night. I'm sure venues vary, but generally speaking am I likely to get reasonable shots if I set my max ISO to 800 and use shutter priority? I'm hoping I can use 1/500th at least... I'm back! :)

Hello, DRB. Firstly - great photos on your blog! Secondly, I've been there: ruptured knee tendons (yes, both. At the same time), the zimmer frame (embarrassing), the crutches (awkward), the full length leg casts (itchy), the muscle wastage (skinny), the slow recovery (frustrating), but hey! It...

I know, I know! It was written in a terrible rush and I'm embarrassed by the typos now. Aldershot! Until last June I lived in Ash Vale. If I still lived there I might have been popping over to borrow a cup of sugar and a lens... PS Thanks for all the welcomes.

Hi, All. My wife spotted this forum and signed me up. Is that legal? Anyway, photography is about to become a big part of my life again after a long lay off. I got into it initially in the mid-seventies when a friend casually mentioned he'd been bought a beginner's darkroom kit as a birthday or...
