Not a stroke, but 2 years gone February I suffered a "Bleed on the Brain". I was in Preston hospital for 4 weeks unable to even stand up for 3 weeks. the care I received was superb, and upon "release" I was able to walk perhaps 30m....within another month i was walking 5 miles and another month...
